Dry Needling is a modern science-based intervention for the treatment of pain and dysfunction in musculoskeletal conditions throughout the body.  DN directly treats the neuromuscular system affecting muscle tightness, joint mobility and symptoms of pain and irritation. DN is effective for reducing acute and chronic pain and improving motor performance and strength.

It’s a technique in which needles are inserted into myofascial trigger points (Muscular Knots) tendons and ligament to stimulate a healing response.  The goal is to permanently reduce pain and dysfunction.  We can develop areas of hypersensitivity and tightness as a response to various stresses i.e. postural, repetitive movements, phycological and emotional. DN is an effective treatment to combat issue that can arise from these types of stressors.

Does Dry Needling Hurt?

Typically, clients will report not feeling the needle penetrate the skin and to the most the treatment is painless.  Although clients can feel a deep contracting of the muscle that the needle is inserted into along with involuntary muscle jumps and twitches.  This is called LRT and means we are positively affecting the desired tissue.  As the needle stays in the tissue these sensations subside.

Dry Needling is being used to successfully treat chronic pain, neck pain upper and lower back pain, tension in hips and legs, frozen shoulder, rotator cuff tendonitis, tennis elbow and many other musculoskeletal conditions.
